Cyan Sea

I've had this color scheme in my head for a few months now. And I wanted to actually do something with it. Originally, I had had a dream in which I was walking across this cyan sea on a high, sheer, and magenta land bridge on which there were patches of violet grass. That said, I didn't dream of any blue fauns, but I thought he fit nicely into this. . .Disney Princesses color scheme I farted out of my brain. I think it's safe to say that the next thing I illustrate is going to be horrifyingly violent. . .or maybe just smutty. I don't know, but I feel way too warm and fuzzy after making this. It's weird. :P Honestly I try to see it while keeping in mind the music I listened too through it's entire creation. Basically, LOTS of Animal Collective. I think I had their entire discography on continuous loop. So look at this less as children's book material and more as that one time when you were tripping balls! :P

So, I mentioned Animal Collective had alot to do with how this one came out. I specifically hold this song responsible, it's called: "The Purple Bottle" and it's an adorable love song, easily one of my favorite songs by the band. There's so much going on in it to make it sound the way it does, I kind of like picturing it being played by lots of little creatures in classic cartoon fashion. But there it is, an explanation. :P

yakkin it up!

Here is a random sketch that I liked of a monster for no reason other than fun:

And here is a sketch from a story that I’ve been formulating in my mind about human vs machine decision making. Here I am just playing around with future worlds. I think that it’s a bit odd to think that humans will be comfortable living in big cold shell-like ships. I think that would last for about ten seconds and then people would start dreaming about the sun and plants and earth tones, comforting things. Why wouldn’t we expect a future world to be more comfortable than the one that we are living in now? Anyways, it needs work, and I’ll do some more iterations, most likely after the robot story.

a speculative fiction

After the breakdown of the Copenhagen talks, which spiraled into a hard fought consensus to more or less keep doing the same thing, I think we can all agree that this image is a fairly accurate, if a bit conservative, representation of what the near future holds for us higher apes.

Behold, the word made flesh!

I did this over the holiday, I was really feeling that christmas spirit! It came to me one morning while reading the "life" section in the fresno bee (which I assure you has as it's mascot only the most adorable of cartoon bees!). In between articles about beating out that holiday stress and abundant commentary about the fact that winter is indeed cold, I was suddenly inspired! I give you the result:

warmups!

i want to see more art here!

here is a page from my warmups, 30 sec life drawing with ink on paper

you can get 3d models here:

frost!

Here's another I've fiddled with here and there. Meh, I think that I lost most of the composition at one point, so here it is I'm done.

Its abstract as shit. the howling woman warrior symbolizes my hatred for everyone in the world named Jared, the red is pasta sauce showing my distain for italian Ristainos and Lucas everywhere. The green ogre is Tony's grinch. The snowy setting depicts the heartless, chilling Carter-esque philosophy.

Can you guess the medium? ITS DIGITAL YOU IDIOT!

Also! Download these pdfs here and learn something!

Murbella

"This is the end of you anxious one, and little loss to the universe"
One Hormu-style kick for them to recognize. The questioner lay dead on the ground.

This is from the Dune series written by Frank Herbert which I think is genius. Its a book and I know that most of you can't read, so this might be considered bragging. Anyways, its a cool part in the books and I thought I would share. Happy Holidays!

A Brief History of Pug

I promised I'd post this like three weeks ago. . .Hah! :P
This is the Hyper Pug. If you bother a pig-pug incessantly enough, he'll eventually tap into his stored genetic memories of ancient times, when his kind was a fierce and noble race. Ages ago, when mankind was young, Pig-Pugs ruled mightily over indo-china. Entire swarms of the little buggers would sweep majestically across the emerald fjords of some part of China. engulfing the landscape in fluff and snot. Snorts and schnuffles could be heard as thunderous as the sea from many miles away. And these mighty beasts lived free, noble lives. Until the climates began to change. Pug and Man soon came to fight over resources. land and noms grew scarce for the mighty PigPug race. And they resolved that their only way to survive, was to submit into a life of servitude. Man utilized the pig pug, for many thousands of years the Chinese used them as beasts of burden. PigPugs plowed their fields, carried grain, provided Pug-milk (Pilk). Slowly over the ages, the pig-pug race diminished in stature, and nobility. They came to be kept as pets. performing tricks for their masters. Entertaining them with their sputtered, punctuated snorts, a feigned blissful stupidity, and yipping. But the once noble pigpug never truly forgot its hist'ry. In brief momentary bursts of playful romping such as depicted here: the PigPug feels the glorious touch wind on his face and wrinkles once more. Carrying away the oppressive, purulent odor of his spittle and snot, the ghibli relieves his mind to recall the age when his ilk was immense, and powerful. Ruler of China. Wild. Brazen. Fearless. PigPug.
