yo, space yaks! these are some character designs i've been sketching on the bus for a future project i'm going to work on. it's been a lot of fun trying to make the outfits as strange as possible. i think i'm going to just keep drawing characters till i get sick of doing it so expect to see more in the future.

iTouch sketch!

Here's a sketch that I did on my iPod Touch with a program called, Brushes!...a while ago.  My friend Chase did the design with the basic green and violet colors and I 'brought it to life' by painting it more realistic, sorta...
Let me know what you think.

*UPDATE- here it is!

unnecessary blasphemy part 5,000...

I've rediscovered my prisma markers! I imagine it's much like the feeling you get when you first find jesus and you just want to tell all your friends about the pure, unconditional love you felt when you looked into his slimy, beady-eyed octopus head...wait...

First post!

Thanks to Zac and Matt for the invite! I really appreciate it.  Here's an update (still a W.I.P.) sculpt from Mike Murnane's sculpture workshop.  I still have a ways to go, ..ran out of the pink super sculpey, need more. Anyways, this character is based off of The Spiderwick Chronicles, called Mulgarath. For reference, I'm working off of screenshots from the film and a design that Carlos Huante did for the film.  ...I know they(tippet) did sculpts for the film, if anybody finds the real Mulgarath maquette from the film, let me know! ;P thanks. As usual, let me know what I can improve on+make better, based on what you guys have seen from the movie and/or design from carlos' site.

Be sure to stop by on Wed. 6-9 in the motion capture room!  Full Day workshop this Saturday 4/29

enough sharpie fumes to choke a horse.

2 recent sketches, the pages still smell deliciously toxic. The words in the 1st one are a line from a Tom Waits song, it was stuck in my head forever and seemed like it would fit nicely with this thing, though probably a hundred other things would have at that point.

Bats

I recently finished a 30 day trip to the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico.  We did a lot of exploring of Mayan temple sites including one called Calakmul.  This particular temple site is still very much surrounded by the jungle.  There is only one road that leads in to Calakmul  from the main highway, and it takes an hour to drive in to reach it once you start in.  Anyways, there's a lot of wild life there:  Howler monkeys, Spider monkeys, Tucans, and lots of bats.  While we were in this jungle area, we made a trip to see a cave that is home to what has to be millions of bats.  During the evening, which is their active feeding time, we watched as what started out as a trickle of some bats turned into a huge swirling swarm of what looked like a tornado of bats rising into the air as they exited the cave.  This went on for an awesome half hour!

Anyways, I brought along a small sketch book and did a couple sketches of some bats.  I did these while we were traveling on a bus from Tulum to Valladolid.  They're a little goofy and certainly not accurate, but they were fun to do.

even yet more sketches...

here's some more sketches. these were originally printed in the Meathaus Sketchbook go for the gold along with a some of the stuff i posted here a while ago.

I've noticed that something i tend to draw alot is little people inside of people, or people using animal heads as hats. when i doodle and don't think about it it's something that i draw over and over again.

here are some post its with the same theme.
eventually I'd like to do something with this idea. a story or animation but I'm not quite sure what it's all about yet so that remains to be a project for the future.
